Fair enough - there are probably other ways I can populate location information.

It does sound neat, but making it a reality would imply creating a fairly tight coupling between discovery and provisioning. That's something we intentionally avoid, so I'm skeptical. Also, it would transform a small enhancement into a medium-sized one, lessening the likelihood of it getting done quickly.

Considering this in more detail, given most ranges will map well to a physical location does it make sense to have the facility to define a range "location" and have this auto-populate the node asset location information?

Thanks for voting, Ross
The earliest you might expect to see this enhancement is in the 1.10 series of releases, since 1.8 is now closed for all but critical bug fixes.

Yes please - we have ~70 discovery ranges and now way to quickly tell which is which.
Client points out that it would be terribly useful to have a way to associate a comment with each include-range, exclude-range, and specific element in the Discovery configuration, exposed in the web UI. Seems like a high-value, low-effort enhancement to me.
