Performance problems with the Topology Map on large networks

Description

On a system running 23.0.0-SNAPSHOTS in a large Cisco environment, the topology map takes several (5+) minutes to load.

Table sizes are as follows:

Once loaded, any action in the UI, such as panning or selecting an edge is also slow.

We should work to identify and resolve the bottlenecks and allow the application to work smoothly on large networks.

A good starting point here may be to create a tool that would allow us to easily reproduce these problems without requiring a database dump from the customer. For example, we could use such a tool to populate the database with N nodes, and K links across these nodes on various protocols i.e. CDP. We could then increase N and K up to a point where we start seeing the performance problems and work to diagnose them.
