It will show up in the events browser formatted just fine. Now modify it:
to add alarm data and repeat the process. The event will show up but the alarm will not. Restarting OpenNMS (which will completely reload the eventd configuration) will cause the alarm to be generated.
Updating an existing event definition and reloading the event configuration doesn't apply the changes. Adding the new event works fine.
For example. Create an event file with the following content:
Now run:
send-event.pl uei.opennms.org/internal/reloadDaemonConfig -p 'daemonName Eventd'
If you send the event into OpenNMS:
send-event.pl uei.opennms.org/class/unhappiness
